Come Enjoy the Activities at the Marinas of Mexico
Beach, Florida
So, what brings you to the beautiful beaches and marinas
of Mexico Beach, Florida? How did you find this charming
little beach town on Florida’s Emerald Coast, one of the
area’s best kept secrets? With some of the best surf
fishing in the entire state and along the Gulf of Mexico
and three miles of exquisite, sandy white beaches, you
are in for a real treat. While the ocean beckons beach
combers and swimmers, this is definitely a perfect place
for fisherman to gather and cast their lines. And you
don’t have to just fish from the shoreline. The familiar
Pier has been newly renovated and extended and is now
open again to the public. You’ll see lots of fishing
poles used out there near the end. Then there is even
kayak fishing for the very determined.

You can also head out onto the water yourself by hiring
one of the charter boats out of the two local marinas of
Mexico Beach. Whether you wish to go out into the Gulf
or explore freshwater bayous and creeks, experienced
boat captains can get you to where those fish are really
biting every time. The city docks have a number of boat
slips located next to Canal Park on Hwy 98. Tie up your
own craft here and have the freedom to go out in the
Gulf whenever the mood or fishing fever strikes you.
Having your own boat gives you freedom to pick your own
times and locations as well as the company that you want
to bring along.
The other boating location that is well known and also
on Hwy 98 is Marquardt’s Marina, a family-owned and
operated business for over 30 years. Nate Odum and Bill
Mulligan run it now. You can find everything that you
need for your fishing trip right here at the store, and
you can dock your boat as well. Whether you need
ethanol-free gas, boating accessories, tackle, or live
bait, this marina has it all. In addition, as authorized
Yamaha dealers, they can provide sales and service if
you require their assistance. Wet storage is available
too, and bikes and kayaks can be rented for more solo
activities. In the general store you can find everything
from sports-wear to sunglasses and t-shirts for that
true “beach bum” look.
Are you ready for one of the three big marina-sponsored
offshore fishing tournaments held each summer at Mexico
Beach? You’ll be going after pompano, whiting, sharks,
and flounder, but you might also catch kings, Spanish,
or cobia. If you drop by in the fall you’ll be able to
haul in trout and redfish as well. Then you can spend
your free time shelling, spotting dolphins playing
offshore, and dining with the locals at the popular
eateries here. Boy, do they have some fish stories to
tell!
There are a lot of great reasons to discover this area
and the full service marinas of Mexico Beach. Come to
swim, to boat, to fish, and to relax, but there is one
more reason to shop at the Marquardt’s Marina. You’ll
want to take home some souvenirs that will remind you to
come back really soon. |
